The Power of Intention Exercise
By Laura
This is a writing exercise designed to help you organize your desires. When your intentions are unfocused or unclear it is difficult to manifest them. When you're desires are organized, clear and focused in your mind they can be more easily attracted to you.
Find a quiet place.
Write down all of your desires; material, spiritual growth, relationships, etc. Don't censor yourself. Don't stop yourself by saying, "I shouldn't want that" or "That's silly." You have desires for a reason, make sure to acknowledge all of them.
Start with material wishes. Do you want to own a house? Buy a car? Go on a vacation? Write it all down. Make sure to also think about your senses; sound, site, touch, smell and taste. Are there specific wishes you have that gratify your senses?
Think about relationships. What do you want in a partner? What about friends? And family relationships? Write down these desires.
Investigate your spiritual desires. What do you want to add to your life? What will bring you spiritual fulfillment?
Write all this down on the paper and anything else you can think of, you're wildest dreams to your most mundane or silly whim. Keep your list with you and add or subtract things as you move forward or you have your wishes fulfilled.
Meditate on what it would be like if your desires were fulfilled. Create a feeling of what life would be like if you had all of your desires. Visualize it. Don't worry if the visions make sense, seem realistic or are a bit silly, just experience them with all of your senses.
You don't have to think about your intentions all the time, but your intentions do need to remain clear and focused. That's why it may be helpful to look at your list once or twice a day, in order to keep your intentions clear.
Don't worry about the details. Keep your wishes focused in your mind, but don't try to micro manage them. Let life take it's course and the details will work themselves out.
Aren't I being selfish?
If you're worried about being too selfish, with material desires, don't. Often what happens is you meditate on desires you have that fall under many categories (spiritual, relational, material). As your desires become fulfilled, all parts of your "self" start becoming fulfilled, not just your ego. As the material desires come your way, you'll naturally start moving beyond that, because you know it's something you can have at any time. It's like sleeping. If you're run ragged and have no time to sleep, you'll think about sleeping all the time. It's the same with intentions, once your material intentions are fulfilled, you'll move away from self interest and ego needs.
