Another email to friends from Ozurgeti, Georgia (the country)
Read to see how my interaction with the Russian teacher in the college went today...
I write to show myself showing people who show me my own showing.* Think about that for a sec before you continue reading
Russian Teacher: How did you like the wedding yesterday?
Host Mom: It was very nice-just like all the weddings here, eat & leave. But I had a good time
Russian Teacher: Laura, how did you like the wedding?
Me: It was very nice, very pretty-delicious food (they have a food obsession in this country-just wait till you come visit)
Russian Teacher: You remember Giorgi right?
Host Mom: Of course you remember Giorgi- he was the guy with some whiskers sitting near you (there were 25 Giorgi's who needed to shave sitting near me)
Me: Well I'm not exactly sure who you mean. Was he the small guy?
Host Mom: No, no he was wearing jeans (they were all wearing jeans)
Me: Was he sitting across from me?
Host Mom: He was sitting near you
Me: Across from your sister?
Host Mom: Yes
Me: The one who kept talking about religion? (he kept asking me if I would convert to Georgian Orthodoxy)
Host Mom: Yes, him.
Russian Teacher: That's my son. How did you like him?
Me: He was very nice (Ha! He was freaking me out by asking me if I would convert- it was making me very uncomfortable)
Host Mom: Very good boy. He's a very good boy.
Russian Teacher: He's 35. He's a nice looking boy, right? Yes?
Me: Uh... um... yeah
Host Mom: Yes, he is good looking
Russian Teacher: You are 22, right?
Me: Uh, yeah
Russian Teacher: A good age difference. Are you interested? Would you like to get married? He isn't married. He is a good boy
Me: I don't want a husband!
Host Mom: Yeah, she doesn't want to be married
Russian Teacher: Well he is a good boy and young looking for 35 (Ha! yeah right!)
Me: Yeah, uh...I don't want a husband-no husbands-no American husbands, no Georgian husbands. I don't want a husband
Russian Teacher: Oh well, you are a good girl-good girl, beautiful, good girl
